TPYF2 encourages exploration of the impact and ongoing legacy of 20th Century conflict on people and places in the UK and around the world. The Imperial War Museum is responsible for the delivery of a programme of UK-wide educational activities and resources, while partners in the home countries of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will focus on the impact of conflict in their own specific regions.
All elements of the project aim to inspire people of all ages to truly discover the impact of 20th century conflict, and discover why it is relevant now and in the future. There is a strong focus on developing meaningful contact between young people and veterans or eyewitnesses of conflict, and on utilising the resources of UK museum, libraries and archives to provide innovative and exciting opportunities for learning. The first element of the programme to be launched is our fantastic new competition for UK schools, offering the opportunity to win all-expenses-paid educational visits to exciting destinations around the world. Full details of further activities to be included as part of TPYF2 – including online exhibitions, teaching resources, CPD programming for UK teachers, intergenerational partnerships, and increased access to the Collection of the Imperial War Museum – will be published on this project website in the near future.
